We would like to thank everyone who participated in this process and supported our efforts to improve our 100-year-old hotel over the last 14 years. Our heartfelt thanks go out to those who waited hours to speak in support at the City Council and Coastal Commission meetings, sent in hundreds of letters and have been our strongest advocates in the community. We would not have been successful without your overwhelming support.
March 2022:
We are delighted to report that, last week, the California Coastal Commission unanimously approved the Miramar Hotel’s proposed redevelopment plan, culminating a 14-year planning and design effort.
We were incredibly gratified by the stunning display of community support. Support letters outnumbered opposition by 101-5, and supportive speakers at the Zoom hearing outnumbered opposition speakers by 44-2.
The Miramar is thrilled to be one step closer to seeing this project become a reality. The next step is City design review, which we anticipate in early 2023.
